12 Sci-Fis With Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores

9. The Predator - 32% Score

If you're a fan of the Predator mythology, then it's understandable why Shane Black's anti-Predator movie The Predator didn't appeal to you. You expected one thing, but got something entirely different.

The previous films had always been presented with such an earnest take, that a movie that actively makes fun of the mythology seems almost derogatory, but that's what you get with a Shane Black film. A man who wrote Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys isn't going to sit down and make a serious Predator movie.

You have to ask why does The Predator have 32% on Rotten Tomatoes?

For starters, this is a legitimately fun film. The main heroes are action movie cliches, and if you know sci-fi and action movie tropes like Shane Black does you can identify them too throughout the flick.

Early test audiences disliked The Predator and re-shoots took place; taking out a number of jokes from the film and honestly, that's where the movie fell apart. Critics and audience members judged this film against the Arnold Schwarzenegger piece, and that inevitably trapped the film; comparing The Predator to the original.

This movie deserves a much higher score. Probably not too high though.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
