12 Sci-Fis With Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores
5. The One - 14% Score
Fair enough, looking back this film is a bad one by Jet Li standards, but so bad it warrants fourteen percent?
The film's nu-metal soundtrack was a fist pump in 2001, but there is something charming to the multi-universe premise, and one Jet Li fighting an exact double has to be up there as a seminal moment of crazy early millennium entertainment?
If you scroll through enough reviews for The One, you might find some legitimate criticism; but on the whole the low scoring seems to amount to critics being offended by the lack of "substance" and story. The irony being that most audience members who tuned in to watch The One didn't to see dramatic acting from Jet Li's side. They did it to see Jet Li one-inch punch his exact double.
The One is another film in this list that you might have watched once, a long time ago, and have no desire to watch again. And maybe that's why it scores so low. But to share a similar percentage rating as the latest Transformers movies or lower than Species III proves that something was gravely overlooked.
Any film that shows Jet Li deflect bullets with another gun deserves some critical praise.
