12 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Awesome
10. Fully Committing To The Animal Rights Angle Or Ditching It Entirely
One of the film's bigger failings is its wishy-washy approach to that hamfisted animal rights allegory, where the doomed dinosaurs capture the public's imagination and are basically treated like any other regular endangered species.
It's not a bad idea at all, but the movie bungles it badly by relying on an expository news reel to do most of the heavy lifting, and ultimately failing to convince that the world as a whole would actually get behind this cause.
Sure, people love dinosaurs, but would they love genetically engineered creatures who just killed a bunch of innocent people in Jurassic World enough to start protesting and begging for government intervention?
It just doesn't convince, though with a more nuanced script perhaps this aspect of the plot wouldn't seem quite so forced. If not, it should've been jettisoned completely.
