12 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Awesome

7. Cutting The Human Clone Subplot

Nothing in this film is weirder than the reveal that Benjamin Lockwood's "granddaughter" Maisie is actually a clone of his own dead daughter, and seems to occur solely to set-up Maisie's final decision to release the trapped dinosaurs into the American wilderness ("They're alive...like me").

It's an extremely ill-advised subplot both because it's not sufficiently explained given the significance it has in the plot, and it's too damn silly even for the permissive standards of these movies.

There's now worry among fans that this may be hinting at the inclusion of human-dino hybrids in the next movie, a long-gestating concept raised during early production on Jurassic World that was ultimately (and smartly) rubbished.

Maisie as a character is fine and doesn't need to be cut out, but ditching this lame clone reveal would help streamline things and keep it a little simpler. If they play-up Maisie's bond with the dinos, then her pressing the big red button would still make sense even without the weird kinship she feels with them for also being a genetic "abomination."
