A less obvious Marvel property for adaptation perhaps, given the more traditional slant on superhero movies, but Strikeforce Morituri would offer a new take on the superhero world where powers aren't necessarily something to be celebrated. When an alien force invades Earth a scientist unveils a technique for imbuing humans with superpowers that will also kill them in a year. The comic focused on the brave souls from the tiny available pool of candidates who volunteered - defending the Earth while dealing with the knowledge of their impending mortality. The Evidence: Though the issue of Strikeforce's rights are a subject of debate, thanks to the legal wrangle involving co-creator Peter Gillis, Marvel have moved to file for trademark on digital distribution, which could follow the trend of the other trademarks filed in December. Admittedly, this could well be a move to cement Marvel's claim, but back in 2003 there was a SciFi series in production based on the comic called 1000 Days, which was ultimately dropped, and in 2011, the man behind the Chipmunks movies acquired the film rights, with plans to hit production in December of that year. Does the newest trademark mean we're going to finally see that film?
