Casino Royale was an absolute game-changer for the James Bond franchise. In the world of Jason Bourne, the old style of Bond was becoming increasingly stale as audiences were beginning to tire of the more ridiculous aspects of the franchise. As a result, the new movie had to shake things up a bit. Casino Royale most certainly delivered in that respect and nowhere is this more evident than here. In the scene in question, Bond has just strangled a man to death in front of Vesper - the Bond girl of this instalment. He returns a little while later to see Vesper sitting fully clothed in the shower. She is very clearly distraught as Bond enters the room. In a previous Bond movie this would have been the perfect opportunity for a cheeky innuendo or some partial nudity but this was a new Bond unlike any previous incarnation. And so Bond joins her in the shower, also fully clothed, and simply sits next to her. There is not a hint of sexuality in the scene as Bond turns the heat up on the thermostat and holds her while she cries. It's a beautiful moment that really shows the emotional side of James Bond and ushered in a new version of a silver screen icon.
