12 Surprisingly Touching Moments In Extremely Macho Movies

9. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade - Henry Jones Sr. Realises His Son Is Alive

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade contains some of the best moments in the entire franchise, including Indy's battle with a Nazi tank that's quickly heading towards the end of a cliff. We see Indy's father, Henry Jones Sr. watch as the tank, and seemingly his son, plummets off the cliff. The look of despair on his face is one of the few moments in the franchise where we see real pain in the characters. He joins Marcus and Sallah as they look down at the gorge in despair, convinced that Indy has met his demise, until he appears behind them and also looks down. Henry's despair is plain to see, so it is a genuinely touching moment when he turns to see Indy standing behind him. He immediately hugs his son as he tells him that "I thought I lost you, boy". It's a really effective moment that shows the audience just how much his son means to him. Whilst this moment is played more for comic relief it is still touching when Henry sees that Indy is still alive and well. For the entire movie we've seen the father and son bicker and fight in the way many family members do, but this moment re-enforces how much love the two characters have for each other.
