5. V For Vendetta €“ "I Killed You 10 Minutes Ago"

V For Vendetta contains a number of awesome scenes of V dishing out his own brand of retribution but in this scene, V chooses to enact his revenge in a much more subtle and touching way. In the lead-up to the scene, we've seen V dispatch with some truly nasty folk in suitably nasty fashion, but Dr. Delia Surridge was always a different kettle of fish. Being the only character to appear genuinely remorseful, it was only fitting that her death scene be one of the most touching moments in the entire movie as V injects her with a deadly poison while she is sleeping. Shot throughout with a sense of unease, Delia wakes up and senses that V is in the room with her. After he reveals himself, the two discuss Delia's actions which led them to this point. It is the only time that you sense V feeling a little remorse over his crusade for vengeance as he explains to Delia that he has allowed her to die in peace by simply injecting her in her sleep. It is a touching scene throughout but the pinnacle comes when Delia asks "Is it meaningless to apologise?" and V's response of "Never" would give even the most testosterone fuelled steroid junkie a lump in their throat.
