12 Terrible Early Concepts That Almost Ruined Iconic Heroes
5. Indiana Jones Could've Been A Paedophile
In Raiders of the Lost Ark we found out that, prior to the events of the movie, the titular character and Marion Ravenwood (played by Karen Allen) had an affair that ended when he was 27 and she was about 17. However, their relationship took place in the 1920s, when this kind of thing would have been considered absolutely fine. That said, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas had originally wanted their history to have gone back to when Ravenwood was just 11 - which, frankly, is not okay in any era. That's right, our favourite archaeologist, explorer and action hero was originally going to be a paedophile! Lucas had even stated that he thought it would be "amusing" and Spielberg immediately elaborated that it would be even more hilarious if Marion had been the one doing the seducing in her pre-adolescent years. Even though it wouldn't have been shown in the film - as it would have been something that had occurred in the past - the fact is that our beloved hero would have previously slept with a child. It really doesn't bear thinking about.
