12 Things Fox Want You To Forget Before X-Men: Days Of Future Past

8. That Mystique Basically Tried To Murder Her Brother

X-Men: First Class is very keen to show how Mystique and Xavier were basically brother and sister growing up, having been thrust together at a young age. In fact, until Mystique is turned on to the dark side by Magneto and his Bridget Jones-like "I love you just as you are" temptation, it is shown that the two are very close, and Raven's ultimate decision to leave with Magneto is clearly a wrench. Even though she basically becomes a mutant terrorist, and would prefer a future where mutants are the dominant species, she doesn't just stop loving Charles, which makes it somewhat difficult to accept that she manages to turn off her residual feelings to such a degree that she's prepared to straight up murder him without so much as batting a pretty blue eye-lid. In the first X-Men movie, she breaks into the Mansion, tampers with Cerebro and attempts to kill the same boy she grew up with, without a moment's hesitation, despite the fact that Magneto - who has a far less personal link to Xavier, seems to mourn him openly as a fallen hero. There is also an accusation that Mystique's blonde hair in First Class contradicts the fact that her older self reverts to being a brunette when she is cured of her mutation to save Magneto: but what that point misses is the fact that the blonde, Jennifer Lawrence look is no more than dress-up, and not a reflection, necessarily, of exactly what her cured genes would make her look like.
