12 Things In Pixar Movies That Make No Sense
7. Monsters, Inc. - Abandoning Mike And Sully On Earth Is Illogical
Monsters, Inc. takes place in Monstropolis; a world populated by scary-looking but friendly monsters. Mike is a coach who trains his partner, Sully, to be a Scarer. A Scarer is a monster that visits the human world to terrify children so their screams can be collected in canisters. These screams are then used to power Monstropolis.
Scarers must ensure they are not exposed in the human world because it would destroy the monsters' way of life if their society was discovered by mankind.
When Mike and Sully learn that a monster called Randall is kidnapping kids and forcing them to scream to get more energy, they report him to Chairman Waternoose. However, it turns out that the Chariman and Randall are in cahoots. Power is running out in Monstropolis and so, Waternoose orchestrated this plan to get more energy. To stop Mike and Sully from exposing him, Waternoose abandons them on Earth.
But if the monsters don't want to be exposed by humans, why would Waternoose leave them on Earth? If he assumes they will be trapped there forever, they will eventually be exposed, which would inevitable lead to the exposure of Monstropolis.
