12 Things That Must Happen In The Next Batman Film

5. The Penguin

The Penguin is one of the Batman villains who makes the most sense in the real world; a brutal gangster who rules with an iron fist and brokers deals with anyone and anything as long as he is able to benefit. The man is a lot more complicated than a waddling walk and a weaponized umbrella, however he has not been seen in a live-action setting since Tim Burton decided to make us forget why the character is so cool in the first place. Yes, this new Batman universe is less hyper-realistic than Christopher Nolan€™s, as this is a world in which Superman and Wonder Woman certainly exist, but if you want to allow for some grounded threats, the Penguin is your go-to guy. In the comics, Penguin and Batman seem to have a professional relationship; if Batman needs information, the Penguin will give it to him so that he does not get his ugly mug rendered uglier by Batman€™s amateur plastic surgery dreams. As this Batman is already established, some of his longer-lasting foes should be as well. Introduce the Penguin as an arms-dealer, similar to how he was portrayed in the Arkham games, and have him be Batman€™s high-profile criminal informant. The glass-bottle monocle is also visually impressive and alludes to the tough nature of the character, more so than an actual monocle, because those things make the wearer about as intimidating as a kitten sipping green tea in a jasmine-infused bubble-bath. Sure, villains like Killer Croc may exist in this DC movie universe, but viewers and creators alike will find a happy medium by seeing realistic foes included alongside the super-powered freaks crawling out of the woodwork. This way, we get the best of both worlds.
