12 Things You Didn't Know About The Evil Dead Movies
1. There Was Supposed To Be A Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash Film
Fans waited decades for Freddy Vs Jason to get made. The feature length thrown-down between two legitimate horror icons was a grudge match everybody wanted tickets for, but the end result was kinda disappointing. The gore was toned down, and in the end there was no clear victor. The only way to make up for that? A rematch.
Which is exactly what was planned, with a new challenger introduced into the fray: Ash Williams, some sixteen years after Army Of Darkness. Freddy Vs Ash Vs Jason would've seen three horror icons duking it out instead of just two, with the Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th stars presumably teaming up to fight off an errant chainsaw hand.
The screenplay did see the light of day eventually, as another arc in the long-running Army Of Darkness comic series. An S-Mart opens on Crystal Lake just in time for Ash to move there and stop Freddy Kreuger from finding the Necronmicon and allowing him to inhabit his own body instead of sharing one with Jason. It's...actually pretty incredible.
It even gained a sequel, where Ash teamed up with the Nightmare Warriors – a support group of Freddy, Jason and Deadite victims from all their respective films.
