12 Things You Learn Rewatching Ang Lee's Hulk
3. Nick Nolte Is Poor, Sam Elliot Deserves Better
Nick Nolte is not great in Hulk. He's not given great material to work with, but he's in no way suited to playing any aspect of David other than his disheveled janitor disguise. It's a shame, because the character might have worked a little more in steadier hands, but Nolte is well past that here.
On the complete flipside, Sam Elliot's General Ross is brilliant - and in fact far superior to William Hurt's MCU version. He's more complex, more conflicted and far more layered as a character than Hurt's blander take.
He definitely deserves more than this movie and it's a travesty he wasn't the one they brought back.
