12 Things You Learn Rewatching For Your Eyes Only

9. The Action Sequences Are (Mostly) Great

For Your Eyes Only touts a number of electrifying action sequences - the car chase, the ski chase and the intense mountain climb - though this shouldn't be terribly surprising as the movie is directed by legendary Bond editor and second unit director John Glen, who was largely responsible for the spectacularly-edited action sequences in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

This was the first of a record five Bond films Glen directed, and whatever misgivings you might have with the script, the set-pieces have a tenacious energy to them thanks to Glen's background in editing and composition.

Especially excellent is the aforementioned mountain climb, with Glen employing judicious cutting between Bond, the henchman above and the precarious climbing gear, resulting in a legitimately gut-wrenchingly tense scene no matter that we know Bond won't come to any real harm.
