3. Boris' Death Feels Weirdly Cruel

Boris Grishenko (Alan Cumming) is one of the movie's undeniable fan favourite characters, a Russian computer programmer with malevolent motives and played with over-the-top glee by the venerable Alan Cumming.

Despite basically being a duplicitous douchebag who causes a ton of people to die, Boris still a weirdly likeable character, such that when he's finally killed off by being accidentally frozen with liquid nitrogen, it's honestly a bit of a shame.

It's certainly fitting that a character as arrogant about his own invincibility would end up dying such a literally statuesque death, but considering how entertaining he was, it's definitely a slight bummer that he doesn't manage to escape with his tail between his legs.

Look, if Jaws can become a good guy and find love with a tiny woman, why can't you just let Boris live, OK?
