12 Things You Learn Rewatching On Her Majesty's Secret Service
9. Tracy Di Vicenzo Is The Best Bond Girl Ever
A major feather in OHMSS' cap is the near-indisputable fact that it features the best Bond girl to date. A few have come close - Casino Royale's Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) in particular - but Diana Rigg's Tracy di Vicenzo is not only the perfect mix of beauty, brains and brawn, she's also the only woman who managed to "tame" Bond by convincing him to marry her.
Though her suicidal tendencies are curiously downplayed throughout the film, she's nevertheless depicted as resourceful and emotionally complex, proving initially sceptical of Bond's burgeoning feelings for her.
It's a shame she disappears for the middle hour of the movie, yes, but Rigg really makes every second of her screen time count, memorably bailing Bond out in act three and even getting to defeat a hulking henchman by herself.
She's the single Bond girl who gave 007 a chance to experience a truly "normal" life, but of course, it was tragically cut short with Tracy's climactic assassination. She eschewed cliches so effectively, and it's a shame there haven't been more Bond girls like her over the years.
