12 Things You Learn Rewatching The Man With The Golden Gun

3. The Car Flip Is Still Incredible (And The Slide Whistle Is Still Awful)

Without question the single most memorable moment in the movie sees Bond driving an AMC Hornet over a broken bridge, performing a 360-degree flip in mid-air and landing perfectly on the other side, all while J.W. Pepper rides shotgun.

It's a jaw-dropping feat of practical stunt work that's still stunning to watch today...except for the fact that composer John Barry decided to include a slide whistle sound effect for some God-forsaken reason.

As such, though the stunt is a high-point of early Bond action sequences, it's also sullied by a bone-headed creative call that makes the scene seem hideously dated.

Mercifully, one enterprising fan has created their own whistle-free edit of the scene, but in terms of official releases, it'll sadly be sticking around forever. Gross.
