12 Things You Learn Rewatching The World Is Not Enough

10. Robert Carlyle Is Totally Wasted As Renard

Robert Carlyle is a wonderful actor, of course, and with the right script he would've been an absolutely magnificent pick for a Bond villain, but Victor "Renard" Zokas is a middling franchise antagonist at best.

Though he does admittedly tout an interesting gimmick - having a bullet lodged in his head which will eventually kill him but make him stronger every day until he dies - Renard's megalomaniacal nuclear sabotage scheme is sadly a bit of a bore.

Carlyle depicts Renard as suitably unhinged, but he's still left lacking the screen presence fans expect from a top-shelf Bond baddie, and ultimately he's just a bit forgettable.
