12 Things You Learn Rewatching The World Is Not Enough
9. Elektra King Should've Been The Main Villain
A better script would've probably made Renard a secondary villain in favour of Elektra King, who is by far the movie's most interesting character and worthy of being Bond's main foil.
Stunningly beautiful, righteously determined and touting a compelling, horrifying backstory, she manages to use her body to get the better of 007 for a while, and even when she's about to choke him to death, she still can't avoid being troublingly sexy.
In the end, though, she's made to play second fiddle to Renard, which given Renard's underwhelming depiction and the series' lack of mainline female villains, makes King's smaller role feel like a massive missed opportunity.
Rumours suggest that the upcoming 25th Bond film may finally give the series its first unambiguous, front-and-center female baddie, so wouldn't that be nice after all these years?
