Though there is one clear stand-out set-piece in this movie - which we'll get to shortly - the majority of the action sequences in Tomorrow Never Dies are, well, a bit a bland.

In addition to the fairly boring pre-titles sequence, the joyless ship-sinking scene and the brief party fight, the finale set aboard Carver's boat isn't particularly interesting, and feels indebted to far too many showdowns from prior Bond films.

Sure, the remote control car is cute and all, but due to a lack of creativity and Spottiswoode's merely adequate direction, the action generally doesn't pop as it did in both John Glen and Martin Campbell's prior efforts.
