2. Nearly Everything About Lex Luthor - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Superman's arch-nemesis was reimagined in the DCEU to the point of being near unrecognizable. Both incarnations of Lex share a strong loathing for Superman due to his use of his overwhelming power for altruistic means and they both believe that the Man of Steel is the vanguard for an alien invasion that would lead to humanity's extinction. They see themselves as humanity's last hope against this perceived threat. But that's where the similarities end as a number of liberties were taken with the DCEU iteration.

The film version of Lex was about the same age as Superman, despite there being a notable age gap between the two and he has East German ancestry courtesy of his father. In addition to this, DCEU Lex was the son of Lex Luthor Sr, as opposed to the more well known Lionel Luthor.

The biggest change was to Luthor's personality. His cartoonish demeanour was more Riddler meets Joker-esque than the comic book Luthor's cold and calculating persona, a change that warranted ridicule and backlash from fans who wanted a more traditional Luthor that could go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel.
