12 Times DCEU Movies Completely Changed The Comics

5. The Timeline Of Wonder Woman's Debut - Wonder Woman

In the comics, Diana of Themysicra dons her armour and uses her divine power to champion for peace and justice in Man's World under the moniker Wonder Woman at different points in history. This timeline is dependent on the comic era but it's commonly accepted that she begins her heroic career not too long after Superman and Batman publicly debuted.

However, this timeline is vastly different in the DCEU as Wonder Woman made her debut in World War 1, decades before her Justice League teammates were even born. This is due to her being born hundreds, if not thousands of years ago (depending on the filmmaker). This makes her the first hero in the DCEU by a significant margin.

The change in the timeline allowed for the exploration of a period in human history that is rarely touched in films (especially superhero cinema) and is more morally murky than World War 2's ''Allies are good and Nazis are bad'' narrative. It also gives Diana a deeper understanding of human morality that goes beyond her belief of human beings' seeming infallibility.
