12 Times Terrible Acting Ruined Potentially Great Movies

Though Thor's first solo outing did a fine job of introducing audiences to the now-iconic Asgardian and benefited tremendously from Kenneth Branagh's Shakespearean influences, it could've been so, so much better with a more engaged and interest actress playing Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).

Granted, the character is pretty forgettable as written, and the forced romance between herself and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) does Natalie Portman no favours at all.

However, if Marvel settled on an actress who had actual chemistry with Hemsworth rather than picking Portman just because of her awards success with Black Swan, the entire movie would've enjoyed an immeasurable boost.

Portman acts with all the enthusiasm of being forced to star at gunpoint, and this only get worse in the sequel, Thor: The Dark World, which she reluctantly returned for after original director Patty Jenkins dropped out.

Given Portman's clear talent, she couldn't seem any less interested in these movies, which presumably explains why she was unceremonially written out of any subsequent MCU films.
