12 Trashiest Films Ever Made

6. Showgirls (1995)

It€™s difficult to know whether Showgirls was supposed to be a thriller, a drama or a comedy, but you can say this much €“ it€™s the film that helped kill the careers of Joe Eszterhas and Paul Verhoeven.

A $40 million dollar exploitation movie, Showgirls is basically Ted V Mikels€™ considerably cheaper Girl In Gold Boots (1968) as directed by Russ Meyer. Both films involve a young girl who encounters numerous sleazeballs while trying to become a star, they both involve €œglamourous€ professions (stripping and go-go dancing) and they€™re both mainstays of IMDb€™s Bottom Rated Movies.

The only difference is that Verhoeven is far less inhibited when it comes to revealing female flesh, and once Elizabeth Berkley removes her clothes, that€™s pretty much how she spends the rest of the movie. As the critics pointed out, the most erotic moments are when the girls put their clothes back on.
