2. Mad Dog Vs. Andi and Rama - The Raid: Redemption

The Indonesian action film The Raid: Redemption gave the action film genre a much-needed shot in the arm, raising the bar considerably from the shakey-cam tomfoolery that plague cinematic combat in the wake of the Bourne films. The film never relents during its propulsive 101 minute run-time. A highlight is the final confrontation between Mad Dog and brothers Andi and Rama in the movie's climax. Mad Dog shows his badass stripes throughout the film opting for using his fists instead of a gun (Mad Dog likens murder with a pistol to "ordering take-out"). Never one to back-down from a fight, Mad Dog chooses to release a bound Andi so Andi, Rama and Mad Dog can engage in a two against one brawl. Mad Dog whoops Andi and Rama decisively until Mad Dog takes a shard of florescent light to the jugular. This proves a minor inconvenience to Mad Dog as he continues to best his opponents with blood spurting out of his neck. Eventually, Andi and Rama emerge victorious but only after being thoroughly embarrassed by Mad Dog's awesomeness and taking a beat-down that lands them at number 2 on our list of Ultimate Throwdowns.
