12 Underrated Superhero Movies That Deserve A Second Viewing

Although some would prefer Guillermo del Toro's more comic-book inclined sequel over the Stephen Norrington original, the 1998 Blade film is full of the kind of guts and gore that you just don't see in today's superhero movies.

A hard-R brutal action flick, the original film has more in common with suspenseful horror films of the '90s than it does with actual comic book movies. However, that's part of the charm, as this superhero flick is more concerned with creating insanely imaginative horror scenes than it is dealing with the actual source material.

Boasting the perfect casting in Wesley Snipes as the dead-pan vampire hunter, it's hard to imagine a superhero film this risky being made in 2015. But with the overlooked original and its equally impressive follow-up, the first two features in this comic book franchise make for a great one-two punch of uniquely engaging superhero flicks.
