When Bruce Willis' David Dunn - the only survivor of a devastating trainwreck - discovers he's never been injured in his life, he's soon thrust into a brilliant but unassuming post-modern comic book tale.

Full of mystique and intrigue, this film noir covers all the bases of a superhero movie - between the classic struggle of good and evil, a protagonist that learns to hone their powers and the whole "with great power comes great responsibility" thing, Unbreakable actually hits all the cliche's of the genre - yet they're presented from such a refreshing perspective that you never actually notice the narrative familiarity.

Although there are action beats, in classic Shyamalan fashion (back when the director could spin an actually coherent story, anyway) the film is more focused on the mystery surrounding the characters than it is with fight scenes or powerful spectacles.

With a plot that never never lulls, the slippery narrative twists and turns to set up a jaw-dropping revelation that blows everything you thought you knew out the water in a wonderful ode to classic Silver Age comics.
