12 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Villains We Can’t Wait To See
2. Lex Luthor - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)
Famous for his shiny head, massive intellect and marking a rare low point in Kevin Spacey's exemplary acting career, Lex Luthor is as beloved by fans of Superman as the Man Of Steel himself. Being that he's already appeared on screen numerous times, there would need to be some major changes to make viewers excited to visit LexCorp again, so luckily this seems to be the case in the upcoming (and hilariously titled) Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Interestingly, Kal-El's arch nemesis is slightly less imposing than some previous incarnations, with the role being filled by Jesse Eisenberg who seems to be bringing a very 'Social Network' vibe to Metropolis. A younger take on Lex, one who hasnt grown up and been to school with Supes instantly changes their dynamic. Theres no room for the frenemy angle between gallant superhero and genius-level villain that writers and showrunners seem to want us all to buy into. Luthor can be heard in the trailer stating that, "Devils dont come from hell beneath us, they come from the sky" and in this statement he becomes a figurehead for humanitys doubts about being treated like unruly children by an intergalactic pseudo-Jesus. This fresh approach to the character could very well prove to be a master stroke and certainly dovetails with the contemporary setting in which DC's movie universe exists. Understandably motivated by a logical fear of a flying, laser-eyed alien in spandex, don't be surprised if Eisenberg's Luthor becomes the emotional anchor to balance the camp spectacle of a millionaire dressed as a bat fighting with an indestructible demi-god.
