12 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

2. Night At The Museum 3

Release Date: December 19th To be fair, the Night at the Museum movies are far from awful, but they're not exactly great either. Ben Stiller is his usual likeable self, and the visual effects are good fun, but most of the enjoyment comes from the ridiculous cameos, which place famous actors in even more famous historical roles. The first Museum film was a huge hit, grossing $574 million (five-times its budget), but the second film was comparatively underwhelming, making "only" $413 million against $150 million. Still, if Fox were committed to making a third film, it's surprising it's taken five years to get it going: why not strike when the iron's hot? Will there still be an audience for this movie in 2014? Have all the kids who loved the original not grown up and moved onto other things? The movie started shooting in London just recently, and though it'll probably be inoffensively watchable, does anyone really care enough that it's in production?
