12 Upcoming Movies That Will Change Your Mind About Actors You Hate
3. Downhill - Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell hasn't made a great movie in a long time. In fact, other than The LEGo Movie, he's made nothing remotely good since 2012 (and even then The Campaign wasn't up there with his best).
His profile has just taken an almighty dent thanks to the reception of Holmes & Watson, which deserves every bad word said about it, despite the talent behind it. It is dire and a black mark even in terms of Ferrell's uninspiring recent work. The sooner he realises that mugging to camera without actually acting, the better. Maybe he could start by going back and watching The LEGO Movie and Everything Must Go. And then Stranger Than Fiction.
He does pathos well, when he remembers, so it's good to see that he has Downhill coming up. This remake of the Scandinavian original will see him playing a man whose marriage becomes strained when he fails to act heroically in an avalanche and saves himself rather than his family. It sounds like a more straight dramedy than he's done recently and the fact that he's starring with Julia Louis-Dreyfus says a lot for its potential quality.
