12 Upcoming Movies That Will Change Your Mind About Actors You Hate

2. Waiting For The Barbarians - Johnny Depp

Waiting For The Barbarians
Secker & Warburg

For some, Johnny Depp has a lot of ground to claw back if he's to get anywhere near his former career highs again. Even his impressive turn in Murder On The Orient Express wasn't enough to give him a boost recently as The Crimes Of Grindelwald and Sherlock Gnomes undid any positives.

He's now lost his plum role as Captain Jack Sparrow, so he may actually go back to understanding the art of subtle acting, rather than slapping the ham on screen. His biggest opportunity for that will come with festival darling Colombian film director Ciro Guerra's adaptation of Waiting For The Barbarians.

As an indication of the project's quality, he'll be starring alongside Mark Rylance and Robert Pattinson. Sure, Depp is playing a despicable villain again, but Murder... and Grindelwald actually proved he has an aptitude for it and this material should be far better than both.
