4. You Were Subjected To A Two-Hour Die Antwoord Commercial
Yes, Neil Blomkamp's Chappie may have had more to it than this, but the writer-director's decision to include South African rap group Die Antwoord as not just lead actors but performers on the soundtrack made for an experience not merely grating, but intellect-sapping. There's no accounting for taste, but did the film really benefit at all from having questionable, divisive music like this in there? It made the film feel more like an ad for the controversial group, and took away from the flawed sci-fi flick's better aspects (the visuals for one). Plus, how long can you listen to Die Antwoord before you want to stick screwdrivers in your ears?
