12 Ways Captain America: Civil War Will Be The Exact Same Movie As Batman V Superman
1. One Of The Heroes Dies
DC Comics/Marvel
Superman's death in Batman V Superman should not have been as unexpected as it was; there was the shoehorning in of Doomsday, a character in the comics created just to kill Superman, and as a plot twist it was the best way to - Superman is iconic, but Henry Cavill's version is quite boring, and it doesn't halt Justice League progression to have him inactive for a half a film or so. However, because he is so iconic it was almost inconceivable pre-release DC would willingly off him (Lucasfilm only put Han Solo to pasture because it was the only way to get Harrison Ford interested in Episode VII).
It's for similar reasons that we can't be 100% anyone will die at the end of Civil War, let alone a team leader, but all signs point to it being the case. Comic accuracy aside (we've established that isn't Marvel's forte), it will provide a proper end to the story at hand, sees them up the stakes for Phase Three and allows them address previous issues with death.
Of course, whether Marvel echoes the "will they come back?" ending beat depends entirely on who they kill; if it's Captain America, expect an Infinity Guantlet augmented resurrection, but if it's Iron Man odds are this is Robert Downey, Jr.'s farewell to the MCU fold. Across two articles I've made a rather clear argument for who I think it'll be, but regardless, I'd say it's pretty safe one will bite it.
Do you think Captain America: Civil War will be the same as Batman V Superman? Or do Marvel have some big shockers up their sleeves? Have your say down in the comments.
