12 Ways Captain America: Civil War Will Be The Exact Same Movie As Batman V Superman
9. The Importance Of Mother's Names
Warner Bros. Pictures/Marvel
Batman and Superman's mothers have the same first name. That's at best a slightly cool, offbeat comic book observation that for over seventy-five years has been a passive coincidence, but Zack Snyder just had to turn it into an essential plot point, the entire reason "the greatest gladiator in the history of the world" is cut short after seven minutes.
You'd think it'd be impossible for Marvel to replicate. Tony and Steve's parents have different names (although, fun fact, one of them is the same as mine), after all. However, the same isn't true of their best mates; both Bucky and Rhodey's real first names are James. And with those friend relationships essential to the film, there is a risk this observation will go beyond a wink wink joke. But come on - surely Marvel wouldn't have independently had this same ridiculous idea?
Well, maybe not, but we still do know that mother's first names are going to play a somewhat important part in the story regardless; in the first trailer, Bucky remembering Sarah Rogers is an essential step in his recovery. Let's hope that's the sum of it.
