12 Ways Captain America: Civil War Will Be The Exact Same Movie As Batman V Superman
7. An Anticipated Character Appearance Is Just A Cameo Setting Up A Later Film
Warner Bros. Pictures/Marvel
Batman V Superman didn't just bring Wonder Woman into the fold, but also the other key founding members of the Justice League, and while Civil War doesn't have as much to introduce by virtue of the twelve preceding movies, there is still one major name that makes Black Panther look like Black Tabby; Spider-Man. Although don't expect Peter Parker to be around all that long.
The Russos have said they had two versions of Civil War planned dependent on if the long-in-the-making Sony deal went through, although because of how late-in-the-day the decision was made, it's unlikely they allowed Spidey to play a major part. Tom Holland's time on set was pretty slight - enough for a couple of dialogue scenes plus a later action showcase in the central action sequence - meaning Spidey's role in the film is mainly establishment for his standalone next year.
He probably won't be as inconsequential as Aquaman, Cyborg or even Flash, and I'm certainly not saying that you shouldn't get excited for Spider-Man, just that you shouldn't expect a majorly prominent role - like the Justice League he's there more as an extended cue to the future.
