12 Worst Marketed Movies Of 2018

10. Overlord

Overlord Wyatt Russell
Paramount Pictures

The trailers for this World War II horror flick promised a grisly, fun time with a fleet of soldiers battling an army of Nazi zombies...but that's really not what Overlord is for most of its runtime.

The mutated humans angle isn't actually introduced until around an hour into the film, with the first two acts instead resembling a far more typical war thriller.

What's there is certainly well-executed, but if the snappily-paced trailer set to AC/DC got you pumped for a relentless gore-fest, it wasn't at all representative of the vast majority of the film.

One gets the feeling that Paramount knew the movie was a box office dud in the making and so emphasised the body horror aspect as much as possible. It's a strategy that ultimately fell flat, though, as Overlord cratered at the box office regardless.
