12 Worst Marketed Movies Of 2018
9. A Wrinkle In Time
There's certainly an argument to be made that the wildly mediocre trailers for this live-action Disney fantasy film represented it extremely honestly, given that it is, in fact, wildly mediocre.
But considering that this is a movie based on an acclaimed novel, features a diverse and talented cast and was also the first $100 million movie ever directed by a black woman, it should've been an easy sell to a broad audience.
Between the corny, overwrought use of pop music and excessive focus on dodgy child actors, however, the marketing was probably too honest in conceding the film's flaws, when it should've focused squarely on the majestic sense of adventure.
An admirable strategy, but also a deeply stupid one which condemned it to bomb with audiences.
