12 Worst Movie Spin-Offs Ever Made
3. Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li
1994's Street Fighter managed to earn almost $100m at the box office despite being savaged by critics, and has since gone on to enjoy a second life as a cult classic, mostly due to the unintentionally hilarious campy theatrics of it all, along with Raul Julia's memorably over-the-top performance as Bison.
It would be fifteen years before the long-running video game series appeared on the big screen again, and the end result was so unimaginably terrible that it made the first attempt look like The Godfather by comparison.
As was the case with far too many movies that followed Batman Begins, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is a dark and gritty backstory for no discernible reason whatsoever, with director Andrzej Bartkowiak displaying all of the originality that had seen his filmography up to then comprise of one movie starring Jet Li, another starring DMX, and a third that starred the two of them together.
Smalliville star Krisitn Kreuk's attempt to make the jump to big screen leading lady was effectively ended in one fell swoop, and The Legend of Chun-Li failed to even recoup the $18m budget while in theaters, and was reduced to a forgotten footnote in history in double-quick time.
