12 Worst Movie Spin-Offs Ever Made

7. Supergirl

In 1983, Superman III marked the start of the franchise's rapid descent into mediocrity following the first two classic installments, and what better way to mark Christopher Reeve's third outing as the Man of Steel becoming the worst-performing entry yet from both a critical and commercial standpoint than by giving the go-ahead to a spinoff nobody wanted that would go on to fare even worse?

Reeve wisely opted out of making a cameo appearance, and if he had popped up in Supergirl then it would have tainted his version of the character even more than playing the straight man to Richard Pryor in his own movie had the previous year.

Instead, we got Helen Slater doing her best to carry the whole movie on her back, which despite her best efforts she simply wasn't good enough to pull off, while big-name supporting players Faye Dunaway and Peter O'Toole don't exactly put much effort into convincing the audience that they're involved for any other reason besides an easy paycheck.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
