13 1990s Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

9. The Sixth Sense

Cure Film
Buena Vista

Unfortunately, The Sixth Sense is largely remembered for its plot twist and it really deserves to be remembered for so much more than that. After all, although the twist is a very clever rug-pull, it doesn't actually make an awful lot of sense and is probably the least interesting part of the film.

The Sixth Sense is a winning movie thanks to its expert fusion of spine-tingling shocks and amazing character-driven drama. This is a deeply touching affair that is actually better as a drama than as a horror film, despite some great scares, and it has a round-up of excellent performances to boot.

This was the highest-grossing horror movie ever until the release of 2017's It and The Sixth Sense entirely deserved it. It's a film that writer-director M Night Shyamalan only managed to top once; that was with his next film, Unbreakable.
