13 1990s Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

Misery, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, is one of the all-time best adaptations of King's work.

Thanks to Rob Reiner's taut direction, an excellent script from the legendary William Goldman and two killer lead performances, Misery is an expertly-executed and thoroughly claustrophobic horror-thriller that is so suspenseful it's almost suffocating.

James Caan does excellent work as the protagonist and Kathy Bates gives one of the best performances in horror movie history; her terrifying performance as the film's psychotic villain (who is also responsible for a particularly nasty scene involving a sledgehammer) is one of the only horror movie performances to win an Oscar and it couldn't have been more deserved.
