With the 90s and 2000s, if you want to see anything good then Asian horror films, particularly Japanese ones, are a pretty safe bet. This 1997 work from J-Horror legend Kiyoshi Kurosawa (no relation to Akira Kurosawa) is an especially good one.

A bone-rattling, anxiety-inducing horror-thriller, Cure benefits from Kurosawa's reliably strong direction, powerful psychological horror and a nerve-shredding villain. The film's impact is increased further by its deceptively slow start, which will lull audiences into a false sense of security before scaring the living daylights out of them.

This is one of the best Japanese horror movies out there and an absolute must-see for genre fans. Just be aware that it will leave you feeling very anxious indeed.
