13 Actors' Favourite Movies You'd Never Expect
10. The Last Detail - Seth Rogen
The Movie: Hal Ashby's incredible 1973 comic drama starring Jack Nicholson, Randy Quaid and Otis Young about two Navy men who show a young recruit a good time before hauling him off to a naval prison.
Why You'd Never Expect It: For one, the rest of Rogen's favourite movies are incredibly broad, with The Big Lebowski, Ghostbusters, Total Recall and Goodfellas being also listed among his top five.
Plus, The Last Detail is such a haunting movie where it counts the most, and not really a movie we expect to be enjoyed so much by one of cinema's current comedy kings (even if the film does have its share of grim laughs).
What He Said: "I saw that more recently in life. Hal Ashby shoots very simply. He kind of takes a step back and shoots stuff as it happens. Things are never about the shot, you know. It’s always about the joke. It’s never about how the camera moves. That’s a very interesting style.
Superbad is very Last Detail-ish. We wrote Superbad before we saw Last Detail, but after we saw it, it helped clarify what we were going for, I think."
