Rosa Salazar actually turned up on our list last year, but with Alita: Battle Angel being sensibly delayed from late 2018 to early 2019, her prospects for breaking out also shifted to next year.

Though Salazar has already had smaller roles in the Divergent and The Maze Runner franchises to date, she's still waiting for that juicy starring role to propel her to stardom, because she's sure got the talent to make it happen.

While Alita's box office prospects are incredibly shaky, the recent marketing push actually raised hopes that the blockbuster manga adaptation might end up pretty decent.

After all, is there a better filmmaker to have in your corner than James Cameron, who is serving as Alita's hands-on producer?

While Salazar's face has been digitally altered for the role, it's not to the extent of being unrecognisable, and if the film scores well either criticallly or commercially, it'll be a loud beacon to studios that she's appealing enough to carry movies of this scale in the future.
