4. Peter's Grandfather Knew - Guardians Of The Galaxy

The start of Guardians Of The Galaxy rather glosses over the fact that Peter's kidnapping should have devastated his whole family, on top of the fact that they'd just watched his mother die a painful death. The fact that we never get to see them mourning his loss too was a little odd, though it did feed into the idea of Star-Lord feeling like he had no home.

But originally, the script did have an allusion to the fallout of his disappearance, as the ending montage was going to show Peter's grandfather wistfully looking at a picture of his daughter and then up to the stars. The suggestion would have been that he knew Peter was taken, rather than simply vanishing, which fills in the gap in the story quite nicely.

Ultimately, the scene was cut because it was deemed way too much of a sad note to end on.
