13 Announced Movies You Won't Believe Are Real
3. Doom: Annihilation
The Pitch: A straight-to-video adaptation of the iconic video game franchise, written and directed by Tony Giglio (writer of all the Death Race sequels you've never heard of), and starring, uh, nobody you know.
Will It Be Any Good?: On the basis of its first teaser trailer, we'd have to say no.
This reeks of utter desperation through and through, evoking the vibe of a low-budget, poorly-directed SyFy movie from the early 2000s.
It looks so bad that the official Doom video game Twitter account quickly distanced itself from the movie, insisting it had nothing to do with its production.
Given the visibility of the Doom brand and the popularity of the recent video game, it's baffling that Universal isn't giving the franchise a glossy, big-budget movie reboot.
Instead, this chintzy offering looks like it'll please nobody, make little money and maybe even leave everyone pining for the not-good 2005 Dwayne Johnson-starring prior film. Oof.
