The Pitch: Because when you can make a movie about two incredible female athletes, why not make it all about their daddy instead? That's definitely what we need in 2019.

King Richard is a biopic of Richard Williams, the father and coach of tennis stars Venus and Serena. Will Smith stars as Williams and will also produce the film, with a script written by newcomer Zach Baylin. No word on a director yet.

Will It Be Any Good?: As easy as it is to be snarky about the movie, Baylin's script did end up on the 2018 Black List of best unproduced screenplays, and the film won't be able to avoid making the Williams sisters a vital component of the story either way.

Smith seems like a bit of a distracting casting choice on paper, but he's an appropriate age for the part at least, and if the film can avoid downplaying the sisters' story in favour of their dad's, it could be a mighty sports biopic.

It could go either way, basically.
