13 Awesome 2016 Movies That Deserve Best Picture (But Won't Get Nominated)
7. Finding Dory
RottenTomatoes Score: 94% (7.7/10)
Why It Deserves Best Picture: It may not quite live up to the iconic brilliance of the first film (which, honestly, also should've been a Best Picture contender), but Finding Dory is an incredibly affectionate sequel that sticks on the right side of nostalgia-bait and doesn't feel like it was made solely to sell some more lunchboxes (looking at you, Cars).
With a welcome return to these beloved characters and introducing a ton of new, charming ones too, Finding Dory is an animated sequel done right.
Why It Won't Get Nominated: Again, there's the animation problem, along with the sequel problem (only a handful of sequels have ever been nominated), and Toy Story 3 is the only animated sequel to overcome both of those hurdles for a nomination.
Plus, if any animated film does somehow sneak in this year, it will probably be the slightly better Zootopia.
