12. Obadiah Stane Was Supposed To Survive Iron Man
Thanks to a Q&A with Jeff Bridges (presumably more legible than most of his recent film roles), Iron Man fans were treated to the revelation that Obadiah Stane was supposed to return in Iron Man sequels despite his apparent death in the first movie. Marvel have struggled with painting two-dimensional villains, let alone three-dimensional ones, and they're too easily cast aside without development, but they did have grander plans for their first supervillain:
When I was hired on, it was scripted that Obadiah would live, that when they opened his Iron Monger suithe was not in it. Then, they decided to kill my ass off. Telling me its a comic-fantasy, so who knows, your character could come back. I guess well see
It would seem a bit silly to revive the character at this stage, though Bridges revealed he was disappointed by the change of direction. But given that they're running out of Iron Man villains, it's probably more likely than introducing a dragon...
